Musicianship: Obviously well rehearsed and committed to the material, these technically impressive players do a masterful job of presenting Bradley’s musical vision. Kloepel’s squeaky-clean running scales are reinforced by Anisonyan’s tasteful reverb-laced rhythm lines. The band’s style of guitar trade-offs is always rooted in bassist Wallace’s performance as he works methodically back and forth between lead
guitar solos and rhythm guitar interchanges. Bradley’s semi-operatic vocals range from the evocative to the angelic. A self-taught pianist, she handles some very complicated chord patterns, which lay a solid foundation for the two-guitar motif of the band. Plumb’s frenetic drumming tempo and energy in the style of Ginger Baker and John Bonham.

Performance: If Bradley hadn’t informed the crowd that this was the band’s debut performance, no one would have noticed. The set was nearly perfect in both musicianship and delivery. Providing just the right amount of dramatic effect, Bradley introduced each song with a back story and donned a masquerade mask during her CD title track “Bleed,” which added a rich theatrical dimension and a playful unpredictability to the set. Bradley was clearly at home on stage, and her enthusiasm,
sultry allure and captivating confidence quickly engaged this early, opening act crowd.

Summary: Laura Bradley is an accomplishedcomposer and a sophisticated performer. Her
risk-taking lyrical story lines, combined with stellar musicianship and a spellbinding stage presence, make for an outstanding live show. Unafraid to stray from the familiar formula, Laura Bradley and the Longing are creating aural art at its best.

Laura Bradley is a Los Angeles based musician, composer, and singer originally from Toronto Canada with a musical childhood spent in Miami, Florida. Bradley’s trademark angelic vocal sound unleashes with the spectral force of an emotional whiplash combined with her haunting piano melodies, high-octane hooks, and songs that take you through a journey of addiction, cutting, rage, and in the end a desire to heal through redemption. Bleed marks a heavier musical departure for Bradley.

Bradley toured nationally in support of her first two CDs, Rain and Storm (E1/Koch), which received radio support from Clear Channel. “Choosing You” was featured on the season finale of MTV’s The Real World – Down Under in Sydney.
